Ophelia Harutyunyan è una regista armena di fiction e documentari con sede a Los Angeles e New York. Ha co-diretto e prodotto il documentario Totally Under Control (NEON) sulla risposta fallimentare del governo statunitense alla pandemia COVID-19. Ha prodotto Crazy, Not Insane (HBO), presentato in anteprima alla Mostra del Cinema di Venezia. Ha scritto e prodotto il cortometraggio di fiction Red Apples, presentato in anteprima al Toronto International Film Festival. I suoi film hanno partecipato ad altri importanti festival cinematografici come Sundance, SXSW, TIFF, Tribeca, Clermont Ferrand, ecc. Più recentemente, ha scritto e diretto il cortometraggio It Takes a Village…, una coproduzione armeno-franco-belga, presentato in anteprima all’IFF di Clermont Ferrand, premiato con il Grand Prix di France TV e vincitore del premio di miglior cortometraggio a SorsiCorti 2024. Ha prodotto il documentario WISE GUY David Chase and The Sopranos, presentato in anteprima al Tribeca Film Festival nel 2024. Attualmente sta dirigendo un documentario in due parti per la HBO. Si è laureata al programma Film MFA della Columbia University e ha partecipato ai programmi Berlinale Talents e La Biennale College Cinema.

Ophelia Harutyunyan is an Armenian fiction and documentary filmmaker based out of Los Angeles and New York. She co-directed and produced the documentary Totally Under Control (NEON) about the US government’s failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She produced Crazy, Not Insane (HBO) which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. She wrote and produced the fiction short film Red Apples which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. Her films have played at other notable film festivals like Sundance, SXSW, TIFF, Tribeca, Clermont Ferrand, etc. Most recently, she wrote and directed the short fiction film It Takes a Village…, an Armenian-French-Belgian co-production, which premiered at Clermont Ferrand IFF, won the grand prix from France TV and won the best short film award at SorsiCorti SFF 2024. She produced the documentary WISE GUY David Chase and The Sopranos which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2024. She is currently directing a two-part feature documentary for HBO. She’s a graduate of Columbia University’s Film MFA program and an alumna of the Berlinale Talents and La Biennale College Cinema programs.
